The VR Process PDF Guidebook is above.

Included are ideas, instructions (loose) along with some examples and poems that will be shared on the call.

Before You Begin:

Take yourself on a contemplative 15-minute wander in nature. It could be in your garden, backyard or simply around the block in your neighborhood. Nature is everywhere. Walk slowly, noticing the weather and opening up to all your senses as you go. Notice how the season has arrived. Gather those natural treasures that are calling you: small branches, twigs, various leaves, stones, nuts and cones, feathers, berries etc.

This is a form of embodied reflection and can be slightly different to work with – notice what is happening within the journey with your art and realize that this can be developed later, if you choose.

Suggested materials to bring to the creative session:

  • A selection of natural material gathered from your walk or that you already have: various leaves, stones, sticks, nuts, grasses, flowers, feather, berries nuts, shells etc.
  • Large pieces of thick paper or card stock, watercolor, heavyweight or other (you will want to be able to draw and then cut through shapes using strait edge or scissor)
  • Paint, Color + Brushes: watercolors, acrylics, inks, your favourite medium
  • Images for collaging, perhaps a photo of yourself along with some nature imagery
  • Cards (JourneyCircles™ or other) that may want to move into process…
  • Any creative work or art you are willing to cut up and repurpose, compost, alchemize and transform. This is an important ingredient!
  • Scissors, tape, gluestick (superglue or glue gun (glue gun works best for attaching items from nature)
  • Brads for movement/articulation if you have them
  • Hole punch or awl for making holes
  • Wrapping + Stitching Materials: Malleable wire to wrap, string, yarn, embroidery thread or ribbon.
  • Needles and scraps of fabric or other.
  • Check your junk drawer for treasures, beads, buttons, baubles, bells and ephemera, and bring anything you feel may be useful for adorning
